Deja vu... almost

Apr 2006 [Madness]
I was setting up a new home... buying stuff for my new apartment, and all the frustration with the "Indian customer service" (one of the best oxymorons ever).

Apr 2007 [Deja vu... almost]
After living in that apartment for less than a year, I moved back to Seattle for a project. And I am doing the exact same thing this April also! Setting up an apartment... buying stuff for the apartment.

Differences...
  • First & foremost, its so easy to do it here... I can do all my research online and just go the stores and pick it up.
  • I know what all to buy... I guess it comes from experience :)
  • Great customer service... They value my time and I value theirs!
  • Me and my friends have to do all the heavy lifting & assembling and the works... In India, you can get everything done! It cost me 100 INR to get 3 beds assembled in India - each bed cost me around 12000 INR. Here, it costs me $40-60 to assemble one bed and the bed itself cost me only $99!!
  • Most important of all, last year, I was looking at the latest and best that money can buy. Budget was not one of the key things on my mind. This year, the only thing on my mind is budget. If these stuff can last me a year, I am happy... isn't that odd? I put all my life savings on an apartment and then move to a cheaper version of it!!

All said and done, I am officially settled in my new apartment. It hasn't started feeling like home yet... Eventually, it will, I guess.
