I had not seen my parents in 3 yrs. And I moved to the middle-of-nowhere away from all my friends. And its crazy-time at work! I had a sudden attack of home-sickness and I booked my tickets to India. At that point, I did not care that I was going to be in India in April... And now, I am paying for it. Sweltering Kerala and a quick trip to Chennai! Moral of the story: Dont be impulsive when it comes to India!
Three years... lot of changes. Few things I noticed so far...
It is a loooooooooooooot more hotter than I rememberThe traffic is worse (if that's even possible??!)The people are nosier
The roads are narrower (my mom says it is because I am broader)There are definitely good things too...
Mom's cooking is yummier - after retirement, she has had lot of time to try out new recipes and now she even has a brand new kitchen!Internet is faster... much much faster!More channels on TV (maybe this is bad... coz now there are more tear-jerker soaps for mom)Met a childhood pal and gossiped for couple of hours (aah... such relief!)And the pièce de résistance... the Sania Mirza-Shoaib Mallik engagement. Every channel was showing it as Breaking news!! When the Tiger Woods story was all that I could see on TV, I used to think that things are so different in India. We still know what is headline news and what is a tailender... I guess things did change here too!! First news was their engagement... then comes the drama - his first wife! And to add tadka, Shiv Sena issues a statement that Sania should not marry a Pakistani - she should marry an Indian!! Fun times indeed.
Another 3 weeks to go...
